Before finding out he was shedding his healthy scratch status and returning to the Senators lineup for that night's game against the Ducks, the recently-turned 26-year old defenceman learned of some devastating news about his hometown.

"It's sad," said Wideman. "It's sad for the city. I think it's going to be tough without them. It's a big loss obviously, and I think a lot of people are going to be left with nothing to do on Sunday afternoons.
