It had been a while since we had heard anything about the once beloved Ottawa Senators’ warrior Zack Smith. He was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Artem (Arty Party) Anisimov in 2019 after it was evident he no longer had a role in Ottawa. Smith never really carved out a place in Chicago and it seems injuries have gotten the best of his career as he announced yesterday that he will be officially hanging up the skates after 12 seasons.
While he did end his career with the Blackhawks, Smith’s memories and career are forever rooted in Ottawa where he was drafted in the third round and flourished to become a reliable contributor.
