The response was swift when the call went out to help Eugene Melnyk in his hour of need.
As of late Friday, more than 2,000 people had jammed the phone lines set up at the Canadian Tire Centre in an effort to help the Senators' owner find a suitable donor after it was learned only three weeks ago he'll need a liver transplant as quickly as possible to stay alive.
The phones were ringing off the hook when they opened at 9 a.m. and were still going right up to the last minute heading into the long weekend from as far as away as across Canada, the United States and Europe which has club officials optimistic that a match will be found.
