Like most hockey people, Charles McTavish has always lived by the no-touch rule when it comes to the Stanley Cup. Unless he’s on a team that wins the thing, he’s not putting a finger on it.
That could change, however, if Andrei Vasilevskiy and the Tampa Bay Lightning knock off the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final Thursday night, then go on to defeat the Western Conference champs.
McTavish owns CGD Goalies in Stittsville, a good bag skate from Canadian Tire Centre. Vasilevskiy, the 21-year old from Tyumen, Russia, many believe will be the game’s next superstar puck stopper, has been a student of his since 2012.
