MONTREAL - It's difficult to understand the thinking of the NHL's Player Safety Department when Mark Stone gets a two-game suspension for an "illegal check" 24 hours after Jean-Gabriel Pageau was almost decapitated and his attacker received no penalty whatsoever.
But on Monday morning, before the Stone ruling was handed down, Pageau didn't even want to go there.
"I actually didn't see the replay, so I don't know (if it was an elbow)," said Pageau, who was left with a bloody nose and a cut under his chin courtesy of Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg. "On that play I just felt like I got hit pretty hard.
