Colin Greening will be getting a shot at redemption.
Speaking on TSN 1200 Tuesday afternoon, Senators assistant GM Pierre Dorion told the station the club won't be using its buyout window to get the struggling overpaid winger off the roster.
That's partially because Greening's contract, which has a $2.65 million caphit through the next two seasons, is, according to Dorion, "about $10,000" shy of the average salary that is allowed for a buyout under the window in the collective bargaining agreement.
Senators GM Bryan Murray will continue to try to deal Greening to see if anybody will take on his contract -- and there was mild interest from a couple of teams earlier this summer -- but he was informed last month he should get ready for camp because the club had no intention of buying him out.
