OTTAWA - Thomas Chabot played the role of spectator on Tuesday night at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Perhaps for the final time this season.
The 19-year-old defenceman made the Senators coming out of training camp, but he was scratched for the eighth time in nine games with the Carolina Hurricanes in town to open up this three-game homestand. It would appear Chabot may want to start preparing himself mentally to return to junior.
A decision to return him to the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs could be made as early as Wednesday. If not, it most certainly will be made by the time the Senators head for Nashville next Monday to prepare to face the Predators on Tuesday to start a two-game road trip that includes a stop in Buffalo on Wednesday.
