VANCOUVER — The Ottawa Senators suffered a late, late night collapse Thursday.
As a result, their bid for a season-high five-game winning streak went out the window.
Third period goals by Jake Virtanen (on a power play), Matt Bartkowski and Emerson Etem (into an empty net) allowed the Vancouver Canucks to rally from a 3-2 deficit, en route to a 5-3 victory.
Virtanen’s game winner came after Mark Borowiecki failed to clear the puck from in the slot, in front of Senators goaltender Craig Anderson.
With the Senators trailing 4-3, Mika Zibanejad hit the post with what would have been a tying goal.
