This move is being made for the kids.
Not only do the Senators want to grow their fan base, they want to do their part in helping raise participation numbers at the grassroots level. On Thursday, the club announced more initiatives aimed at giving kids a chance with a Grow the Game program.
Club officials noted registration in minor hockey in the area has pretty much stopped growing and they're hoping by taking the proper steps more children will be given the chance to be introduced to the sport and will get assistance to help defray the costs of getting involved with the sport.
