Thomas Chabot's strong showing at his first NHL training camp has landed the 18-year-old his first pro contract.
The Ottawa Senators announced Wednesday they've signed Chabot, one of their two first-round picks (18th overall) in this summer's NHL Entry Draft, to a three-year entry level deal. Chabot was then re-assigned to his junior club, the QMJHL Saint John Sea Dogs.
Chabot had a strong camp and was paired with captain Erik Karlsson to make up the club's top defensive pairing in a preseason game against Toronto a week ago.
"He's playing with a lot of confidence and I remember being in the same position, so I'm happy to be on the other side of the equation for once," Karlsson said before that game.
