Senators' Ryan bestows scoring wisdom upon Dzingel

BUFFALO — A little advice from Ryan to Ryan: shoot low and see the goal totals go high.

“He always asks questions and bounces ideas off me,” Bobby Ryan said when asked about linemate Ryan Dzingel’s struggles to finish off a seemingly endless stream of scoring chances. “I tell him, ‘you shoot high too much.' It doesn’t have to be pretty in the NHL. If you beat a goalie low blocker or low (trapper), it’s the same … we’re still shaking hands with everybody on the bench and going to the line at centre.”

Before the puck dropped between the Senators and Sabres at KeyBank Center Saturday, Dzingel had been blessed with 24 breakaway chances — an average of one every two games — but he had scored on only two of them.
