EDMONTON — Don’t expect to see Andrew Hammond any time soon.
The Senators goaltender was placed on the injured-reserve list Saturday afternoon after he suffered a groin injury late in the first period of the club’s 5-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Coach Guy Boucher said Hammond, making only his second start of the season, suffered the injury when he went to make a save on a shot that went wide late in the period.
“It won’t be two or three days. Let’s not kid ourselves. It might be longer than that,” said Boucher following the club’s skate at the Rogers Place Arena on Saturday.
