Matt Puempel is taking it one step at a time.
The Senators' winger is back for more this year by attending his fifth development camp since he was drafted No. 24 overall in 2011.
But being at this one is important after the 22-year-old Puempel looked like he was in the NHL to stay for good down the stretch last season only to have his season cut short in mid-March when he suffered a high ankle sprain keeping him out action for an extended period.
While Puempel, a Windsor native, didn't need surgery for the ligament damage he suffered, he's had to spend a lot of time getting it to the point where it's comfortable and that's why this week the Senators will be taking extra precaution to make sure he doesn't take any risks with the injury.
