WINNIPEG — If only it had been an April Fool’s joke.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t.
Not only did the Senators — already without captain Erik Karlsson — drop their fourth straight in a 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets at the MTS Centre, the club finished the game with only five defencemen when Cody Ceci suffered what appeared to be a leg injury in the second and didn’t return for the third.
Trying to hang onto a playoff spot in the East with only five games left in the regular season, the timing of the injuries and the losing skid couldn’t be worse for the Senators.
