The Senators turned to their backup plan Tuesday night.
Well, it wasn’t totally pointless.
With top goalie Craig Anderson sidelined with a lower-body injury, Mike Condon made his return and delivered a strong effort as the Senators picked up a point in a 2-1 OT loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in front of 16,984 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Defenceman Victor Hedman scored with 55 seconds left in overtime to give the Bolts the victory, but if it hadn’t been a for a 35-save performance by Condon, the Senators wouldn’t have even been in this one.
