Just when I was reflecting on how shitty of a time of year it is for hockey news, Bruce Garrioch breaks news that the Ottawa Senators are exploring the possibility of a professional tryout with former Senator right winger Martin Havlat.
Chris Phillips will be fine for camp. Will skate this week. #Sens have spoken to Martin Havlat’s agent Allan Walsh about possible PTO.

The now 34-year old Havlat played with the Senators from 2000-01 through the 2005-06 campaign. In those five seasons with Ottawa, ‘Mach 9′ tallied 105 goals and 235 points in 298 games before being traded by John Muckler in July of 2006 in a shittacular three-way trade that landed the Senators: 1) one-year of Tom Preissing; 2) two shitty prospects in Josh Hennessy and Michal Barinka; and 3) a 2008 second round pick that ultimately became Patrick Wiercioch.
