MONTREAL — As the bodies keep moving in and out, there’s a bright light or two at the end of the injury tunnel for the Ottawa Senators.
On a day when winger Matt Puempel was claimed off waivers by the New York Rangers and Andrew Hammond was preparing for life back in Binghamton after clearing waivers, front-line scoring threats Mike Hoffman and Bobby Ryan returned to practice.
Hoffman, who has missed the past two games with a groin injury, sounded optimistic about the chances of playing here Tuesday against Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens.
“It’s not 100% yet, but if all things go the right way, hopefully I’ll be ready to go,” said Hoffman, who is stuck on three goals for the season and has gone pointless in his past five games.
