The Senators' top goal scorer is looking to become the team's ninth player to make at least $3-million.
An arbitrator in Toronto Thursday is scheduled to consider the request of winger Mike Hoffman for a one-year deal at $3.4 million as well as the Senators' counter of $1.75 million.
It's expected his ruling will be closer to the ask than the offer.
Hoffman earned $750,000 last season as a rookie when he led the team in scoring with 27 goals.
Prior to the 2014-15 campaign, however, he scored just three goals in 29 NHL games.
