The Hamburglar had some of his old magic back Saturday night.
Maybe, as a result, he’ll get a little more action down the stretch.
Forgotten amidst all the excitement over the club’s three short-handed goals in a 5-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens at the Canadian Tire Centre was the fact goaltender Andrew Hammond made 30 saves for his first shutout of the season and his first since April 9, 2015 against the New York Rangers.
Not only does Hammond have a 3-0 lifetime record vs. the Habs, the win also should give him a boost of confidence in what’s been a difficult season for him personally after last year’s remarkable 20-1-2 record down the stretch.
