Senators fire coach Dave Cameron, two assistants

OTTAWA — Dave Cameron has been given his walking papers.

In his first act since taking the reins from Bryan Murray Sunday, general manager Pierre Dorion gave Cameron his walking papers on Tuesday.

Assistants Rick Wamsley and Andre Tourigny were also fired. Assistant Jason Smith will be re-assigned to another job in the organization.

No replacement is expected to be named immediately but you can be guaranteed the Senators will look for someone with NHL experience because they don’t want to give another rookie head coach a chance.

The club will be keeping a close eye on Boston Bruins’ coach Claude Julien but that’s considered a longshot at best.
