Many hours went into the making of the hardest recorded shot in Ottawa Senators history.
"I grew up shooting pucks in the backyard all the time," Jared Cowen said after the Senators skills competition Thursday at Canadian Tire Centre. "Most of my friends were looking over the fence, wondering what the hell I'm doing. I guess it has paid off."
Cowen broke his own record with a blast of 109.5 mph to edge Patrick Wiercioch (106.2) in the hardest shot category.
"It was unbelievable," said Kyle Turris. "At first I thought it was a fake puck, he hit it so hard.
