LONDON, ONT. - Chris Driedger has been here before. Three times, to be exact.
It shows. The Ottawa Senators goaltending prospect was pretty much the sole reason his squad escaped with a 1-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Saturday’s rookie tournament.
Driedger bailed out his teammates time and again, as the Senators were outshot 43-27. Including his performance in Friday’s 2-1 overtime loss to Toronto, Driedger has now stopped 62-of-63 shots this weekend.
“I thought we kept the shots, mostly, to the outside,” he said after being named first star. “There were a few that got to the middle, but that’s to be expected.
