OTTAWA — Welcome to Ottawa, Alex.
Alex Burrows made a smashing debut with the Ottawa Senators, scoring twice Thursday’s 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
It’s just one game, but it was quite a game for a player who drew decidedly mixed reactions when he was traded to the Senators from Vancouver Monday for prospect Jonathan Dahlen.
The victory, coupled with Boston’s loss, allowed the Senators to regain sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Division.
Rene Bouque scored the lone goal for the Avalanche early in the third period, making for a dicey finish as the Senators held on for a victory against the NHL’s worst team.
