The Senators turned back the clock to hone their prospects in Binghamton.
As Postmedia reported first Tuesday, five years after winning the Calder Cup as the AHL champions, the Senators have brought back coach Kurt Kleinendorst to coach their minor-league affiliate next season.
Kleinendorst, 55, who spent last season with ERC Ingolstadt in the Deutsch Elite League in Germany but resigned Tuesday morning after signing an extension, left Binghamton after missing the playoffs with a 29-40-0 record in 2011-12.
“Kurt has a proven record of being able to balance both development and winning at the AHL level,” said Binghamton Senators general manager Randy Lee in a statement.
