Over to you, Guy Boucher.
The dealing officially came to a close for GM Pierre Dorion when the NHL trade deadline passed Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET and Thursday night the new-look Senators took to the ice at the Canadian Tire Centre to begin the race down the stretch with a goal of clinching a playoff spot.
Owner Eugene Melnyk did his part by putting more money into the club’s payroll, giving Dorion the chance to make trades with the Vancouver Canucks for winger Alex Burrows and the Carolina Hurricanes for forward Viktor Stalberg.
Both made their debuts against the Colorado Avalanche and now it’s up to Boucher to make it work because the excuse of not having enough depth has been removed.
