Senators book first-round home ice with win over Rangers

OTTAWA — No place like home for the Ottawa Senators to start the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Senators scored a much-needed 3-1 victory over goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and an undermanned New York Rangers team to book home-ice in Round 1 of the post-season Saturday afternoon at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Though the Senators opponent for Round 1 could be settled Saturday night, the indications are Game 1 will be played Wednesday in Ottawa while Game 2 will likely be set for Saturday. Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mark Stone had two-point efforts while Derick Brassard scored against his former team and Mike Hoffman also chipped in.
