LONDON, Ont. -- The 'C' emblazoned on Matt Puempel's chest this weekend at the Budweiser Gardens was placed there with a purpose.
With experience comes expectations.
And as the Senators prepare to open training camp Thursday with medicals at the Canadian Tire Centre, GM Bryan Murray and assistants Pierre Dorion and Randy Lee are expecting the 22-year-old winger to compete for a spot, so they wanted that message to be sent to Puempel during the rookie tournament.
Puempel, who had the 'C' on again Saturday in Game 2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, looked pretty strong in the club's 5-4 OT victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Friday's opener.
