OTTAWA -- The Ottawa Senators have named Pierre Dorion as their new GM, the team announced Sunday.
Dorion, who was promoted from assistant GM, will replace Bryan Murray, who announced that he will "step aside and have a different role with the organization."
Dorion announced that Murray will remain with the organization in "an advisory role."
Murray, 73, has been contemplating his future all season long as he continues his battle with Stage 4 colon cancer.
Dorion, a former scout with the Montreal Canadiens, was responsible for many of Ottawa's draft choices over the past decade.
