Among the items auctioned off at the Ferguslea Senators Soiree (presented by Bell) on Tuesday was a night with what became a growing group of players.
Initially, it consisted of Cody Ceci, Mike Hoffman, Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mark Stone. Bidding jumped when Dion Phaneuf joined the group, and spiked when Kyle Turris and Erik Karlsson included themselves.
The winner paid $65,000, to which Phaneuf celebrated by promising to bring all the wine.
Phaneuf also had the winning bid of $7,000 for a day at Chris Neil’s cottage.
“I’m going to Neiler’s lake,” Phaneuf beamed after Wednesday’s practice.
