Penguins move assistant Martin to new role (The Associated Press)

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Jacques Martin has a new job with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The team announced Tuesday that Martin will serve as special assistant to head coach Mike Johnston. The 62-year-old Martin, the NHL's Coach of the Year in 1999 while leading the Ottawa Senators, spent last season in an advisory capacity with the club.

Martin will spend games watching from the press box and relaying insight to Johnston and the team between periods. Martin worked in a similar capacity late in the season as the Penguins fell to the New York Rangers in the opening round of the playoffs.
