Zack Smith will be missing with an abdominal strain Thursday when the Ottawa Senators play host to the Detroit Red Wings on Daniel Alfredsson’s jersey retirement night.
Smith, who suffered the injury in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the New York Rangers, leaves a big hole due to his versatility in being able to play any number of roles.
The resulting lineup shuffling will see Tom Pyatt move up — at least temporarily — to a line with Derick Brassard and Mark Stone.
Curtis Lazar will take Pyatt’s former spot on a third line alongside Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Mike Hoffman.
