The Senators have made a move to clear up the crowded crease.
And, this time, Andrew Hammond won’t be left with the choice of going to the club’s AHL affiliate.
After turning down a conditioning stint to the club’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton last Saturday, the club’s backup goalie was placed on waivers at noon Saturday. If he clears, he’s eligible to be sent down immediately.
Hammond had the choice to go last week without clearing waivers but told Postmedia he had opted not to go that route.
“We’ve talked about it and it’s ultimately something that’s in the player’s hands,” Hammond said on Thursday.
