Bryan Murray initially struggled with his new role as the Senators senior adviser.
That’s because he really still wanted to be GM.
“For a couple of days, I sat there and said ‘did I do the right thing?,” Murray, who moved aside for Pierre Dorion early last month, said in a one-on-one conversation at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday.
“If I wasn’t sick, I probably would have tried to continue on,” continued Murray, who is battling cancer. “But that, combined with my age, and when (owner) Eugene (Melnyk) offered me the opportunity to be involved in a different capacity … I know it’s the right decision now.
