Guy Boucher is getting his staff in place for the upcoming season.
The Senators confirmed Wednesday morning they’ve hired former Calgary Flames assistant Rob Cookson.
The 55-year-old Cookson worked with Boucher at the Spengler Cup in Davos in December and spent the last four year as an assistant to Senators associate coach Marc Crawford with the Zurich Lions in Switzerland. He worked for the Flames from 2001-2011.
“Rob is a knowledgeable, detail-oriented and resourceful hockey man who brings considerable NHL experience to this team,” said Boucher in a statement. “In addition to having already worked for two NHL organizations, his winning track record at the international level and his exceptional ability to break the game into teaching segments all provide valuable intangibles.
