It was a day the Senators won't forget.
They know exactly where they were on Oct. 22, 2014, they were at the rink, preparing for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a game that was later postponed and rescheduled out of respect for fallen soldier Cpl. Nathan Cirillo.
The Senators remember it as if it were yesterday. Before facing the New Jersey Devils three days later, they honoured the memory of Cirillo and Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent, killed two days earlier in St. Jean-Sur-Richelieu, by gathering with their opponent at centre ice for a moment of silence.
"We had just come off the ice preparing to play the Leafs and heard about it and we were all kind of shocked by it," said defenceman Mark Borowiecki before facing the Devils Thursday night at home.
