Ottawa Senators put Nick Paul at centre, taking out Scott Gomez

After the morning skate, as a media scrum formed around Nick Paul’s stall to interview the Senators rookie, Curtis Lazar decided to get in on the action.

Lazar grabbed a TSN mic and asked the first question of Paul, who had been his left winger the last few games.

“What are your thoughts about passing 2-7 the puck for once?” Lazar asked.

Paul replied: “He’s a good player, but sometimes he just can’t handle it,” before he started to laugh. “I can’t take this seriously.”

Perhaps unknown to them at the time, the former Team Canada junior teammates would be split up for Saturday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, as coach Dave Cameron finally came to his senses and made Scott Gomez a healthy scratch.
