The Senators haven’t slammed the door on Plan ‘B’ for an outdoor game in 2017, but by no means is a game at TD Place a done deal.
Mayor Jim Watson, speaking on TSN 1200 Friday morning, indicated he’s “cautiously optimistic” the Senators and Montreal Canadiens will mark the 100th anniversary of the NHL and Canada’s 150th birthday on Dec. 19, 2017 with a game at TD Place.
The Senators opted not to respond to Watson’s comments, but this is not a slam dunk by any stretch of the imagination. No, the logistics involved in having a game there aren’t as complicated as Parliament Hill but there’s still lots of work to do because the Senators, the city, the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group and, perhaps, even the federal government may be involved here.
