LOS ANGELES - The Senators are starting to rip apart at the seams.
Immediately following their first six-goal loss since Oct. 13, 2011 -- when they were humiliated 7-1 on home ice by the Colorado Avalanche -- it became evident there's more troubling this team than inconsistent play and defensive breakdowns.
They also have character issues.
Unable to bite his tongue after watching goalie Andrew Hammond take the blame for Sunday's 7-1 loss in Washington, defenceman Mark Borowiecki pinpointed the problem as a lack of pride. He said the Senators didn't give Hammond enough help, they "rolled over" against the Capitals and "packed it in even more" when the deficit grew too large for any thoughts of a comeback.
