Ottawa Senators make minor-league swap

Quite likely Bryan Murray was just warming up when he pulled the trigger on his first trade of the season Wednesday.

The Senators GM toughened up the orginization's blueline when he made a minor league deal, sending Binghamton defenceman Patrick Mullen to Nashville for defenceman Conor Allen, an undrafted 25-year old Ottawa had interest in last summer.

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound Chicago native played a total of seven games for the New York Rangers the last two seasons. With the Rangers' AHL affiliate in Hartford, he had 71 points (18 goals) and 236 penalty minutes in his first 176 games as a pro.
