He wasn’t exactly Kevin Costner in the NHL’s version of Draft Day, but Pierre Dorion did deal his one first-round pick on Friday night.
The Senators rookie GM traded up a single spot, from No. 12 to No. 11, so he could take 6-foot-61/2 Windsor Spitfires centre Logan Brown.
It cost Dorion a third-round pick to switch spots with the New Jersey Devils, which odds suggest was a small price to pay.
Only nine of the Senators’ third-round picks in the previous 24 drafts have played a game for them.
Chris Kelly and Zack Smith turned into solid players.
