Ottawa Senators lock up Christian Wolanin for two years

The Ottawa Senators have decided to keep left-handed blueliner Christian Wolanin around for another two years after his impressive spell with the club this past season.

The 24-year-old son of former NHL defenceman Craig Wolanin played 30 times for the Senators in the regular season, registering four goals and 12 total points during that stretch.

Wolanin’s new two-year deal will hold a cap hit of $900,000, with the first year being a two-way deal.

If Wolanin sticks around on Ottawa’s roster, as he is expected to, his salary in the NHL will be $800,000 in his first year but would drop down to $100,000 if he is sent back down to Belleville.
