Their initial interview was held at Le Vieux Chateau, a Steakhouse and Seafood Restaurant in Hawkesbury that served as a convenient halfway spot for Pierre Dorion and Guy Boucher.
They ordered poutine. And talked. For 4 1/2 hours.
“I believe in making strong first impressions,” said Dorion, the Senators GM. “And his first impression was simply outstanding.”
That led to a second meeting, which was in Dorion’s Canadian Tire Centre office and lasted almost nine hours. It included assistant GM Randy Lee and Daniel Alfredsson, whose role going forward has yet to be determined.
“For me, it seemed like an hour,” said Dorion.
