Sometimes, a good start isn’t enough.
The Senators were the dominant team for the entire first minute of their game against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, thanks primarily to Jean-Gabriel Pageau’s 2-0 faceoff record against Paul Stastny on the opening shift.
From there, things went downhill fast.
Craig Anderson made two great right skate saves off Vladimir Tarasenko and Dmitrij Jaskin before Jaskin put the Blues in front 1-0 at the 216 second mark. It was the seventh shot on goal for the visitors, putting them on pace for more than 84.
By now, of course, you know the rest of the game story.
