Chris Phillips will make a full recovery, but he and the Senators will just have to be patient.
Senators GM Bryan Murray sent out a statement Tuesday afternoon confirming while the off-season surgery to repair a bulging disc in the 37-year-old Phillips back went well, he suffered a cracked vertebrae during the rehab that will force him to miss camp and keep him sidelined at least another month.
“Chris has experienced a setback in his recovery from back surgery that will delay his return to the ice. While the back surgery earlier this summer has alleviated all of the issues he experienced last season, he suffered a cracked vertebra during his rehabilitation,” said Murray.
