NEWARK, N.J. - Despite all he’s been through, Jared Cowen reiterated he’d rather stay in Ottawa than get traded elsewhere.
Unlike Tampa Bay’s Jonathan Drouin, he is not demanding anything.
“I can’t speak about what goes on in their situation,” the all-but-forgotten Senators defenceman said Thursday morning.
“Sometimes that’s required, depending on what guys are going through. That’s not what I’m doing.
“It’s the exact opposite of what I want to be.”
At the same time, Cowen realizes he has fallen a long way out of favour with the Senators coaching staff. He was a healthy scratch for nine consecutive games before playing against the New Jersey Devils in the final stop of this five-game, 12-day road trip.
