The Senators are closing in on finalizing their roster.
Preparing to play their final exhibition game Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres at the Canadian Tire Centre, the club sent seven players to its AHL affiliate in Binghamton Wednesday morning and released defenceman Matt Bartkowski from his professional tryout.
That leaves 25 players in camp. The Senators expect to have forwards Mark Stone (concussion) and Zack Smith (foot) back from injury against the Sabres while winger Curtis Lazar (mono) could be cleared for contact.
Sent to Binghamton are:
- Goaltender Chris Driedger
- Defencemen Michael Kostka.
