As if a Canada-U.S. loser-go-home showdown wasn’t enough, Curtis Lazar has even more reason to watch Saturday’s world championship semifinal.
His two roommates will be butting heads.
During the season, Lazar lives with fellow Senators Mark Stone and Chris Wideman, both of whom have played very well for Canada and the U.S., respectively, in Russia.
A third Senator, Cody Ceci, also has shone in the battle for global supremacy among players who aren’t otherwise busy with the NHL playoffs or coming up with excuses not to represent their countries.
Lazar, who was captain of Canada’s gold medal-winning team at the 2015 world junior championship, is naturally expecting to hear his favourite anthem after Saturday’s game.
