On a night honouring Neil’s 1,000th game, Senators' Turris plays enforcer

The Senators all wore jersey No. 25 during Wednesday’s pre-game warmup in honour of Chris Neil.

Kyle Turris acted like he still had his on late in the second period.

With only four previous fights in his NHL career, Turris played the role of enforcer late in the second period, objecting to Marc-Edouard Vlasic’s attack on Erik Karlsson.

Attack is my word. Coach Guy Boucher called it a “dangerous two-handed spear to the throat” and Karlsson said it was “dangerous” and “intentional.”

“It was a shot that none of us liked on our captain, and what we think is the best player in the league,” said Turris.
