Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: The scenarios involving Matt Duchene’s likely exit from Ottawa are increasing. Duchene and agent Pat Brisson are looking to max out with an eight-year deal.
He can do it by trading then re-signing with a new team. Also, Duchene gets that eighth year if Brisson can orchestrate a sign-and-trade before July 1st. That becomes predicated on Duchene getting traded in the first place.
Marcus Johansson dealt before the deadline would not be a surprise. However, if Ray Shero does not get value, he will hold on to the winger then try to re-sign him.
