OTTAWA — Nobody was happy with the way the Ottawa Senators performed last season, especially owner Eugene Melnyk. So when the Senators missed the playoffs for the second time in three years, there was no shortage of change.
It started a day after the season ended, when GM Bryan Murray handed the reins over to long-time assistant Pierre Dorion. A couple of days later, coach Dave Cameron, along with assistants Andre Tourigny and Rick Wamsley, were shown the door, while Jason Smith turned down a job in the organization.
After an exhaustive search, the Senators opted to go with experience behind the bench by hiring former Tampa Bay Lightning coach Guy Boucher, while long-time head coach Marc Crawford was brought in as an associate.
